FAQs

  • To adopt a pet, please fill out the adoption form located on our website. We only consider applications that are 100% filled out, and we ask that you do not DM us, email us, or call us about wanting to adopt. These methods will be ignored, and you will miss out on your chance to be considered.

After submitting your application, one of our volunteers will process it within 7-10 business days. They will contact your vet, personal references, and confirm ownership/landlord approval. They will also conduct a "home check" by asking for pictures of any area the pet will have access to, as well as the front of your home. Due to COVID, we cannot conduct in-person home checks, so we require photos.

If you pass the initial screening, our volunteer adoption coordinators will schedule a phone interview with you to ask a series of questions and ensure that we pair you with the best match. If you are approved, we will let you know about the next steps.

  • We do NOT have a physical location, due to respect for our fosters we do not allow people to visit the animals before going through the process first. If you are approved to adopt all meet and greets/ pick ups are done so in central CT, which is determined prior to the meet and greet appointment.

  • No, We do not hold the pet unless you are approved to have that pet pending adoption for you (which we require a $50 non-refundable deposit which is taken out of the adoption fee prior to transport/meet and greet) We are not first come first serve, and at any point the animal you applied for may be adopted out before you reach the final step.

  • Our small group of volunteers work hard every day to process as many applications as they possibly can get through. We would love to promise a certain amount of days but the fact is everyone does have a life, family, pets of their own, and even full time jobs. We try our best to get through them within 7-10 business days, but this also depends on your references responding back to our volunteers in a timely manner. We urge you to let them know that an unknown number will be reaching out to them in regards to your application, especially if you are renting as most hold ups are due to property owners not contacting us back.

  • We wish these animals could speak and tell us exactly what they went through, sadly we often don’t know their full background. We rescue from the south, mainly from Texas where there is a mass amount of unaltered animals. It’s very common for litters of puppies and pregnant dogs to be left behind or tossed into a field. We do not know what trauma these animals have been through, or why they were left behind, all we know is that our team and rescue partners work hard to make sure we find them the proper home to never have to worry about being left behind again.

  • Our database pulls adopted dogs off the website every 24 hours, it’s likely that if a dog is still shown on our website then they may still be available. We do ask that you do not message us asking the available status of an animal, we often can not respond to every single message, and this clogs up important messages from other people.

  • If you applied with us and allowed us to continue the process despite the dog you intentionally applied for having been adopted, you would likely have reached our pre-approved status ( which an adoption coordinator that interviewed you likely would have explained). This status is good for 6 months from the date you were approved. Pre-approved does not mean you can get ANY new available animal, but it’s a quicker consideration as you will not have to fill out another application within that 6 month time period. If you marked that you were ONLY interested in the animal listed on your application and that animal was adopted to someone else prior, then we would have withdrawn and deleted your application, so you would need to fill out another.

  • We are volunteer and foster run rescue, we are reliant on adoption fees to continue to pull, vet, and transport homeless animals.
